Who we are?
Pastors Mike and Abby Lopez lead with authenticity, passion, and a deep love for people.
both carry a story of redemption and grace that fuels their ministry today.

After a suicide attempt and years lost in addiction, depression, and life on the streets near Greens Road and Imperial Valley, Pastor Mike encountered the life-changing power of Jesus at VCP Church on June 28, 2013, under the mentorship of Pastor Juan Carlos Casas.
That encounter not only transformed his life but also led him to his calling.
It was in that same church where he met Abby, who had just returned from ministry school; serving together to build a thriving media team, worship team, young adults ministry and later Pastor of the English Service.

Their journey has not been without trials.
When their first son, Miguel, was born prematurely and diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot, doctors said he would not survive, walk, or eat on his own.
Yet, after months in the NICU and a successful open-heart surgery, Miguel defied every medical prediction.
Today, he is a joyful, healthy four-year-old who loves to worship and make new friends.​​​​​​​​

Their second son, Benjamin, came as another miracle, completely healthy despite doctors’ warnings of a repeated condition.
Through it all, the Lopez family learned to trust not in outcomes but in God’s will, standing on the truth of 2 Corinthians 4:7: “We are jars of clay so that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.”

Their ministry is built on one core conviction: real transformation comes from the Holy Spirit shaping our character to reflect Jesus.
Pastor Mike often says that miracles are powerful, but the greatest miracle is a changed heart.
His preaching, known for its bold “Hot Takes” that challenge religious mindsets; calls believers back to a genuine, Bible-based faith that looks like Jesus, not just sounds like Him.

Their marriage and children are their first testimony that the message they preach is real.
Together, Pastors Mike and Abby are dedicated to building a church that reflects Christ’s character, where grace and truth meet, and people discover how to live with the true fruits of the Spirit in everyday life.
A New Chapter
After years of serving faithfully at VCP Church, Pastors Mike and Abby Lopez are being sent out with love, prayer, and blessing to plant a new church, Church of the Way.
In this video, our pastors pray over us, acknowledging the years of dedication, growth, and service we’ve poured into VCP Church.
This moment marks both an ending and a beginning, a continuation of the same mission to make Jesus known and help people walk in His ways.
With grateful hearts and full confidence in God’s call, we step forward in obedience to build what He has placed in our hearts.
